Introduction

The Republic of Slovenia lies between Venice and Vienna, at the junction of three basic European landscape types where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet the Pannonian plains. A green country boasts all diversity of the Old World.

As a small, beautiful and picturesque country, Slovenia makes a great tourist destination. Mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, forests, caves, hills, plains, thermal springs and the sea: you name it, you can find it all within Slovenia - half the size of Switzerland. Above Triglav National Park, four regional and many natural and landscape parks the sun shines approximately 2000 hours per year, with up to four months winter season every year.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana is regarded as the cultural, scientific, economic, political and administrative centre of Slovenia, independent since 1991. Throughout its history, it has been influenced by its geographic position at the crossroads of Germanic, Latin and Slavic culture. Several winged dragons also decorate the Ljubljanica-crossing Dragon Bridge (Zmajski most), often regarded as the most beautiful bridge produced by the Vienna Secession.
