Introduction

Poland is a member of the European Union, NATO, the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). On 1 July 2011, Poland replaced Hungary as the seat of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Gdansk

Gdan'sk is Poland's principal seaport as well as the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is also historically the largest city of the Kashubian region.

Gdynia

Located in Kashubia in Eastern Pomerania, Gdynia is part of a conurbation with the spa town of Sopot, the city of Gdan'sk and suburban communities, which together form a metropolitan area called the Tricity, with a population of over a million people.
