Introduction

Grenada is called The Spice Isle because it is a leading producer of several different spices. Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mace, allspice, orange/citrus peels, wild coffee used by the locals, and especially nutmeg, providing 20% of the world supply, are all important exports. The nutmeg on the nation's flag represents the economic crop of Grenada; the nation is the world’s second largest producer of nutmeg.

St. George's

St. George's was built by the French in 1650. This is made apparent by the many red roofed houses in the city. The city is surrounded by a hillside of a very old volcano crater and is on a hoseshoe-shaped harbour. The city is home of St. George’s University School of Medicine. The main exports: cacao, nutmeg, mace. Visited Fort King George, the whole city then hired a van and went to the Nutmeg Factory in Gouyave. Came back and enjoyed the beach at St. John.
